DESPITE CONCERNS: BOMBERS HIT UNIMAID AGAIN

Three suicide bombers believed to be Boko Haram suicide bombers attacked the new male hostel block (A) of the institution
Three male suicide bombers on Thursday at about 9.30 pm attacked the students’ hostel of the University of Maiduguri
The attack was, however, repelled by security operatives at the University

The attackers entered the hostel in spite of the trenches dug to fortify the security of the school.
He said two of the bombers detonated their explosives and blew up themselves and causing a great damage to the building which is barely one year old.
Yet another attacker was shot by security men while trying to flee the scene of the attack.
This is coming at a time when students are on vacation.
Only the suicide bombers were killed, but they caused damage to the building.

Recall that the University management had earlier asked all students who would have one or two academic programs like Teaching practice, I.T, and so on to vacate all hostels as there would be no temporary accommodation for anybody for whatsoever reason during the long break, sequel to that order all hostels of the university are unoccupied.

The Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, Victor Isuzu, confirmed the incident.
Isuzu, however, said the command had neutralised two suicide bombers before they entered the university.
He said security men shot dead the bombers before they crossed the university’s fence.
He said the command had deployed additional personnel to beef up security at the institution.
