NFCS HOLDS FAMILY MEETING

On the 22nd of August 2019, The Nigeria Federaration of Catholic Students, NFCS Unimaid Chapter had its family meeting.
The event began at exactly 6pm with the Holy Rosary. After that, the Praise and worship segment was conducted by the NFCS Praise band. Immediately after that, the NFCS Anthem was sang as well as the congregational hymn. The moderator of the day in person of Bro.Peter Ahua handed the microphone for the introduction of all members. All students introduced themselves stating their names, Faculty, Department and level. The Chaplain Rev. Fr.Solomon Zaku and one of the NFCS Staff Adviser Dr.Chigozie Nwobi also introduced themselves.

In line with the family meeting's agenda, the NFCS President in person of Bro. Emmanuel Onyekwere was called to present the Administration's goal and prospect which included developing a salient fund for NFCS, making an input on the Secretariat, creating massive publicity, promoting spirituality and so on.

Reactions were made by 5 persons. They outlined the challenges NFCS is facing especially in terms of poor publicity, neglect on the aspect of welfare, Negligent attitude displayed by EXCO in promoting NFCS and so on. Suggestions were also made by these people. Such suggestions include increasing the NFCS sessional due from #200 to #1000, Checking out on NFCSers constantly and maintaining mutual understanding and communication amongst everyone.

The NFCS Staff Adviser Dr. Chigozie Nwobi encouraged all NFCSers to make personal impacts and desist from blaming the Exco's on the current challenges being faced by the fellowship. He charged everyone to pray and shun all aspects of immorality. He made so many references to his life and encouraged everyone to take their studies seriously. The entire congregation clapped and cheered joyfully. The usual offering was conducted.

The next issue was A.O.B (Any other Business) where just two people were called on to speak in order to save time. The first person spoke on insufficient meals at the recent concluded NFCS cultural week and the second person spoke on Changing the exam success prayer pattern limiting it to the Mass and the Holy Rosary. He also spoke on the security challenges being faced in the chaplaincy.

Rev. Fr Solomon apologised to those who were unable to speak as a result of time factor. He further charged all Exco to take their responsibilities seriously and advised everyone to attend church activities. He also asked everyone to serve as instruments of change.
The NFCS secretary in person of Bro. Callistus Jacob after thanking the Chaplain and Staff Adviser for coming, went ahead and made the announcements.

The NFCS President made the closing remarks. He also appreciated the guests and all those who turned out for the family meeting. He apologized to those who were unable to make suggestions and asked them to pen down their opinions and drop it in the Suggestion box . He also called on all NFCSers to work hard towards promoting the fellowship and not always rely on the Exco. The meeting was then adjourned.
The closing Prayer was then made by the Chaplain and the NFCS family song was sang. The meting ended at 8-35 pm.

Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS) is a body encompassing catholic students in all high institutions of learning. Its history can be traced back to 1920 when the idea of catholic students unionism came up; an internal catholic study union (ICSU) was created in swiss with George de Montenach as the president to deepen the urgency for reconciliation in a world torn apart by the first world war. NFCS Cultural Carnival 2023.... Praise night..28/10/2023..

The 2023 NFCS CULTURAL WEEK arrived a fiestive and as usual, angelic, top the shelve offerings from our esteemed Praise Band and Choir. Their presentation of  were heavenly. An accord of all sections of the choir embellished in voices worthy of enchanting stones back to life. The Drama Band, rivalled only by the likes of Hollywood and Bollywood by acting drama that speaks about the cultural theme taged; Sharing our similarities and celebrating our difference ; revelled the gathered NFCSers and well wishers with the antics of their well prepared; singular performances, witht the cultural lessons of  well received and applauded.
