NIGERIA FEDERATION OF CATHOLIC STUDENTS (NFCS) OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT WELCOME SPEECH DELIVERED AT THE OCCASION OF WELCOME CEREMONY OF NEW STUDENTS FOR 2019/2020 ACADEMIC SESSION (16.02.2020) PART ONE STUDENTS Protocols Beloved brothers and sisters, I stand before you this evening as a brother to congratulate and welcome you officially into All Saints Catholic Chaplaincy, and into the NFCS family. May I begin by saying that it is a wonderful thing to be here, this is where men and women are made. All Saints Catholic Chaplaincy is known for the culture of producing excellent students, we have had in the yesteryears and even in most recent past, our brethren who have emerged top of their classes and this is the big challenge I put before all of you - to be the best you can be and make this family proud. LASSA FEVER The outbreak of LASSA FEVER since the beginning of 2020,has brought alot of chaos especially in the Northern part of the country. The Federal government has expressed its concern and steps on how to tackle the spread of Lassa fever disease which has claimed 41 lives in part of the country since the beginning of 2020. The minister of health, Osagie Ehanire who spoke at press briefing in Abuja, gave an update on the raging outbreak of the disease. He also revealed that at least two health professionals were among the 41 deaths recorded, adding that there were at least 258 confirmed cases recorded across 19 States in the country. The minister, who said all hands must be on deck to contain the spread of the disease, urged Nigerians in various parts of the country to practice good hygiene and protect their food from rat contamination, and incase of any doubt some of the symptoms are: fever, weakne...
