THE DEATH OF THE CHURCH

THE DEATH OF THE CHURCH
At this time, we must beware of this new purported brand of Christianity which the prevailing situation has called us into. It is a kind of advocacy for personal and now private spirituality and/ or relationship that is devoid of the need for the Church or assembly of the people for God. For some, it is an eye opener of the reality of Christianity. Could they right? Or has others now see it as the true religion? To Begin with, we must know that there is nothing new under the sun. For some so-called ‘Christians’ to advocate for and even preach such, displays not only their level of ignorance of the Scripture, the Faith, but also revealed why we should beware of these enemies of the cross Gal1:7, Phil 1:18. The Scripture has repeatedly, from of old, shows that God loves communal relationship. He was the one that established the tent of meeting, the tabernacle, chose the temple as his dwelling place forever. He always used the phrase 'my people, my people, Israel (as a congregation) to express his relationship with his people, though this does not in any way denies the fact for personal encounter. To continue these tenets, the people saw the need to rebuild the temple because of the eternal promise of God to be with his people (with the temple as his dwelling place) forever.
Before the coming of Christ, the Pharisees, rather than the Hasideans, extend the Jewish worship to the synagogues where the Scripture is daily read to the community, while they still go to the temple at the appointed festivals. With the coming of Christ, a new dimension not abrogation is taken. While some people would use the words of Christ in John 4:24 to the Samaritan woman as a basis for their position during this period, let me clearly state here that, Christ did not mean to say “stop going to the temple or synagogues, so as to worship in spirit and truth.” For if that was the case, he wouldn't have been seen going to the temple and synagogues even at the hour of his death. That he continues as his routine. What he meant was to disabuse religiosity at the expense of true devotion. Many people today are only Church goers but not Christians; are followers of men and not of Christ, are sons of the so-called ‘spiritual mentors and father’ and not servants of Christ. They are Pharisees and not Christians. As such, many cannot even talk of any spiritual experience or encounter of divine love, for such a state has often time translated to man-servants.
Accordingly, even after the death of Christ, the Bible still speaks of the necessity of the assembly (the Church) of the people of God. Act 2:42 says "And they continue steadfastly in the apostle's doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayer." Listen carefully how the Bible says they continued and steadfastly. We are where we are today because some people continued steadfastly in a community, in fellowship, are taught and held the apostolic doctrines, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. These are what the early Church deed daily to bring the message to us. Even with the greatest persecutions from Nero and Diocletian, the Church continued with this fellowship (most time at the cost of their lives) to perpetuate this divine institution, that we are only enjoying. But today, the unthinkable is happening, while we should, on our kneels, seek the mercy of God to heal and restore us from this temporal loss of fellowship, some of us are using this bedeviling situation to advocate for individualism in spirituality. Have you not heard in Hebrews 10:25 that "do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day is approaching"? The last part even stresses the time we are in, that the day is approaching. No one should blind us from seeing that the day of his coming is at hand, and as such we need the body of Christ now more than ever.

We can only be sure to continue in the apostolic doctrine in the Church, seeing that the world is now polluted with adulterated teachings, fake or so-called 'men of God’. We need the Eucharist now more than ever. For it was an injunction. St Paul himself reemphasized it in his letters to the Corinthian 11:23-26. Anything or man that would advocate your breaking away from Christ in the Eucharist, in the fellowship of believers, in the Church, I see him as an Antichrist. This is all what the devil wants: to separate the people of God from the body and blood of Christ. And it seems he is succeeding. But he will never succeed.
I challenge you, burn your data to participate in the Holy mass than on useless and unprofitable videos then do no good to your soul. Tune to the approximate channel to be in communion with the Lord and his people (saints). The Church is what Christ would come to take as his Bride. Remember you are part of the Church. Please encourage one another in the fellowship of believers.
God bless you.
