MUGABE DIES AT 94

Former Zimbabwean long serving president Robert Mugabe died peacefully today at his home in Harare, according to a statement from his family. The cause of death was not given. A statement from Mugabe’s wife, Grace Mugabe, said: “My family joins me in sharing the difficult news that Robert Gabriel Mugabe, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has passed away at 94 years of age. His life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.” President Emmerson Mnangagwa issued a statement saying that he and first lady Auxilia Mnangagwa were “greatly saddened” to hear of the former president’s death. “Ex-president Mugabe was a great Zimbabwean who gave many years of dedicated service to our country,” Mr Mnangagwa said. “The Zimbabwean people will always admire Robert Mugabe’s devotion to duty, his personal character, and the honorable conduct of his administration. JAMB COMMENCES 2018 UTME

1.6M CANDIDATES STARTS JAMB EXAMS The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Is-haq Oloyede yesterday said 1,662,762 candidates will write the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) between March 9 and 19. He made the statement at a media conference in Bwari, Abuja. He said the Computer Based Test (CBT) would hold in 605 centres nationwide and candidates must adhere strictly to the date and time given to them “as any candidate who fails to turn up on schedule automatically misses the examination.” He said a total of 367 blind candidates would take the tests as against the 201 last year and that the board would provide necessary support to physically challenged candidates. NO GOING BACK ON OIL EXPLORATION - UNIMAID VC

Third Edition of Nigeria Federation of Catholic Students' (NFCS, University of Maiduguri Chapyer) Ministers' conference was held from 5th to 6th of March 2018. It was aimed at clarifying issues relating to Ministering in the house of the Lord and was indeed a success. Speaking on the First day of the conference Bro. JAMB 36 MILLION NAIRA TAKEN BY SUPERIOR OFFICIAL NOT SWALLOWED BY SNAKE - JAMB OFFICIAL

Philomina Chieshe, the official of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), who claimed that the boards N36 million was swallowed by a snake, has made a U-turn. Chieshe, who works as a clerk at the JAMB office in Markurdi, Benue state, had told top officials of the examination body that a “mysterious snake” swallowed the money derived from the sale of JAMB scratch cards. But when she appeared before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), she confessed that the money was collected by one Samuel Umoru, her superior. According to The Nation, the EFCC has interrogated Chieshe on several occasions since she made the ridiculous statement in February. “The interesting aspect of the disclosure is that Chieshe’s statement (on snake swallowing the money) was obtained long before the snake and naira swallowing testimony became public knowledge,” an EFCC official was quoted as saying. “In all her statements before the EFCC, there was no mention of any e

JAMB STARTS FRIDAY - NO RESCHEDULING

Barring any last minute change, this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), will begin on Friday. It is scheduled to hold from March 9 to March 17. The board’s Head of Media and Information Department, Dr Fabian Benjamin, on Sunday was insistent that the exams will go on as planned. While announcing that candidates for the 2018 UTME can start printing their examination notification slip from Tuesday, March 6, he said: “Candidates can now go ahead and print their examination notification slips from Tuesday. “These candidates must ensure that these slips are printed before Friday, March 9 in order to farmiliarise themselves with the examination schedules as no form of excuse for missing the examination will be entertained. “We want to warn that the board will not reschedule any examination for anybody and so any candidate that fails to adhere strictly to the examination schedule as stated in their slips should have himself or herself to blame.”
