What killed Sam Okwaraji????

*The Untold Story Of what killed Samuel Okwaraji, the legendary Nigerian player who died while playing against India.* ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽ As I am writing this, I am struggling to plug a wall of emotions with a stoic face. General Kollington Ayinla’s Late Okwaraji which has filled my room with its sober and somber lines is not helping matters. Hmmm….there is no way one will tell the story of SAMUEL SOCHUKWUMA OKWARAJI without feeling the pain of the loss gnawing at your heart, and as your head swells with patriotic pride, your lacrimal glands conspire to betray you. For millions of Nigerians, the most fabled soccer player is none other than this gentleman. Many grew up listening to incredibly woven and mesmerizing story of how he gave up the ghost while Nigeria was playing against India. After Nigeria had defeated India by a world-record-breaking 99-0, and were on the verge of making it 100-0 and completing the humiliating defeat of the Hindus, they decided to summon their magical powers. Unimaid multiple explosions: State government boosts security with #50m.

After suffering the fifth attack on its campus this year by mainly women/girls suicide bombers, a number of security measures were yesterday announced to shield the University of Maiduguri. Sunday night attack by suspected Boko Haram bombers, led to the death of 16 people. Governor Kashim Shettima who held a security meeting with heads of security in the state, approved the release of N50 million to secure the back of the campus which is porous and from where the insurgents have been operating. The governor inspected the eastern part of the campus. He said the N50million should be used for the ongoing digging of trenches behind the campus which covers 27 kilometres. The trenches will make it impossible for insurgents to cross into the campus on foot or to drive in. Part of the money will also be used to support payment of allowances to special guards of local vigilantes working with the military to police the porous area. Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aliyu Shugaba, said the insti

38 NIGERIAN UNIVERSITIES INCREASE TUITION FEES – ASUU

Image
No fewer than 38 universities across the country have increased their tuition fees as a result of poor funding by the Federal and State governments. The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr Deji Omole, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday. The statement which assessed the two years of President Muhammadu Buhari in office, lamented that the current government had made Nigerians poorer. Omole said that the public education was not taken seriously because most children of the rich and those in high offices do not attend school in Nigeria. “The latest increment might be attributed to poor funding by the federal and state governments as ASUU poorly rated the President Muhammadu Buhari in the area of funding of university education. ASUU also noted that it would be difficult for any Nigeria university to effectively compete globally with the inadequate allocation of budgetary funding as presc

ATIKU NOT THREAT TO BUHARI IN 2019, SAYS ADAMAWA APC

Barely 24 hours after a chairman of a political group, Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Elliot Afiyo, said the group has screened former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and four others to run for the 2019 presidential race, the Adamawa State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declared its support for President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo’s second term in 2019 and described the group’s position as a child play. While speaking to journalists yesterday in Yola, the National President of Buhari/Osibanjo Campaign Organisation, Alhaji Yahaya Hamajulde, said the 2019 ticket of the duo has been sealed by God and that those looking for political jobs through the next presidential election should turn to other ventures, noting that the contest for the presidency is over. According to him, “God has already nominated Buhari and Osinbanjo for the 2019 presidency, so it is better for those that have the intention to contest for the office to turn their ambitions to oth

A sad but Real Truth.

DID YOU KNOW THAT: During the Nigerian Civil War, while Britain was sending sugar, butter and milk to the Biafrans, the same Britain was selling weapons to the Nigerian troops in Lagos. Britain gained immensely from that civil war while Nigeria and Biafra lost badly in everything and on all sides, all the billions the young country (Nigeria was just seven years old then) was supposed to use for development, they used to fight and kill themselves, our economy is yet to recover till date and that is not to mention the three million brains wasted. If any civil war happens again, the same people who will benefit will not be the careless and ignorant youths screaming and calling for war, it will be the sellers of the weapons, you can see how President Donald Trump is selling weapons to both Saudi Arabia and Qatar at the same time while some comedians are taking sides. Who gained from the deal? United States. It is all a game and if you are not smart, you will keep making a fool of yourself

· Emmanuel Onyekwere As earlier reported the entire University of Maiduguri community was thrown into pandemonium on Sunday, 25th June 2017 as a great number of suicide bombers invaded the University from a yet to be ascertained route. According to some eye witness reports the suicide bombers were alleged to have alighted from a taxi behind Unimaid security office and drove off with possibly some more bombers towards Entrepreneur Center of the University. The first blast took off at about 10 pm inside the Unimaid security office where a mother of three was reportedly killed alongside other University Security personnel and the building was grossly dealt. After that one series of other blasts were heard from different directions within the University premises. The attacks however gave birth to a traumatic drama which eye witness say simply portrays the power of God and shows how merciful God has been to us. One of the Suicide bombers according Joseph Wilfred and Mark Bitrus who were

NNAMDI KANU TO CONTEST ELECTION

*NNAMDI KANU MAY CONTEST ELECTION IN 2019 – SEN. KWANKWASO* A former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, may ride on his popularity to contest in the 2019 election. Kwankwaso, an APC politician representing Kano Central in the Senate, also admonished South-East leaders to do more in dissociating themselves from Biafra agitation to prove they are truly for Nigeria’s unity. He said: ”My understanding of the situation is that the people agitating in the South-East feel that they are better if they are given independence as Biafrans. All what they are saying, going by what we read in the newspapers, is the need for more appointments, more development and so on. ”If you look at appointments, you are just talking of a link, a very small aspect of a very big chain. To me, for one part of the country to be talking of secession because of appointments, is going too far, and soon people start agitation for many

A RIGHT HONOURABLE GENTLEMAN.

I n 1963, a British photojournalist came to Lagos, Nigeria to seek an interview with Prime Minister Alhaji (Sir) Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. But he was told he had gone on vacation for his annual leave as Prime Minister of Nigeria. "To which country?" he asked. "His village in Bauchi," he was told, "he went by train," he was told further. The photojournalist was shocked to hear it and he went to Bauchi. On getting to his village, there was no evidence to show that an important personality was there. Everybody was busy with their chores. He then met a farmer (with his donkey carrying bundles of sugarcane) and asked for the Prime Minister and he was shocked when the farmer said he had just left him a while ago. "You will see him sitting on the bare floor with his kids eating the sugarcane I gave them." He met them like that and took this photograph. #HistoryVille #TafawaBalewa #Nigeria In 1963, a British photojournalist came to Lagos

THIS STORY IS MIND-BLOWING

This is incontrovertibly the most beautiful story I have received  PLEASE READ... A lady worked at a meat distribution factory. One day, when she finished with her work schedule, she went into the meat cold room (Freezer) to inspect something, but in a moment of misfortune, the door closed and she was locked inside with no help in sight. Although she screamed and knocked with all her might, her cries went unheard as no one could hear her. Most of the workers had already gone, and outside the cold room it was impossible to hear what was going on inside. Five hours later, whilst she was at the verge of death, the security guard of the factory eventually opened the door. She was miraculously saved from dying that day. When she later asked the security guard how he had come to open the door, which wasn't his usual work routine, this was his explanation: "I've been working in this factory for 35 years. Hundreds of workers come in and out every day, but you're one of t
